TGV²: Why don't gun companies like to make money? Why don't they make the products consumers want?

I was just cleaning up this KAC SR-25 Carbine and it got me thinking about why some companies will not make products their consumers want? Do they not like to make money? I know many factors are at play here, but as I mention in the video, government contracts can not be the whole reason.
