This was a sermon preached on Memorial weekend 2002. The sermon observes those who have died in service for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Most Christians who have suffered persecution down through the ages have been persecuted for acting like Christians - not simply for being a Christian. This sermon is loaded with church history about the suffering of early Christians. Suffering is a part of the Christian life. Martyrdom has been a part of Christianity since its beginning.
