President Donald Trump expressed his view that attending a hearing regarding fresh charges tied to classified documents discovered at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Palm Beach, Florida, was unnecessary. This statement was made during a round of golf at his Bedminster, New Jersey, golf club. When asked about his decision to forgo the court appearance, Trump simply stated, "I didn't feel it was necessary."

This announcement from Trump coincided with his entering of a not guilty plea in response to the new charges. U.S. Magistrate Judge Shaniek Mills Maynard officially accepted Trump's plea, following his submission of court documents the previous week, in which he asserted his innocence and waived his right to be present at the hearing on Thursday.
