Ivory Coast President Houphouet-Boigny Host Ghana Lt.General Akuffo - 1978 Yamoussoukro State Visit

The visit to Yamoussokro was the first General Akuffo had made abroad since coming to power in Ghana. Shortly after his arrival he had his first round of talks with Ivory Coast President Felix Houphouet - Boigny -- on increased economic co-operation between the two West African countries.

Yamoussokro is in the centre of the Ivory Coast's cocoa and coffee producing region. The Ivory Coast and Ghana are leading cocoa producers and regularly consult each other on prices and marketing policies.
