“The right thing is not always the popular thing. Because this is true, the effective leader is not always the most popular leader. Like a parent taking their toddler to the doctor for a shot - holding them still whilst they writhe in pain and fear, we presume to know what’s best for them and we bear the pain of their despising us long enough to administer their well being. An effective leader is not always the most likable leader. The parent who would forego needed medical attention for their child so as to remain the bestie of their child has in my opinion sacrificed effective parenting for popularity. Politicians and leaders of all walks often do the same. Commit to your vision, your core values and effective leadership. In the long run the popular may be remembered, the effective will be rewarded.” J Loren Norris
