FEC to consider new rules for AI in campaigns

The Federal Election Commission (FEC) is set to engage in discussions with experts and the general public regarding a potential clarification of rules pertaining to the utilization of artificial intelligence (AI) in political campaigns.

During a meeting held on Thursday, all six members of the commission unanimously agreed to deliberate on the revised petition presented by the consumer advocacy group Public Citizen.

This decision followed a previous instance in June where the three Republican members of the commission had resisted advancing the petition, leading to a deadlock with a 3-3 vote, The Hill reported.
