Just a little quick review here.
I decided to swap over my old 2.5 inch SATA 3 internal SSD for a newer and larger one. The old one was still working and so I wanted a cheap and easy way to keep on using it. This little adapter does the job. I can just plug any 2.5" SATA 3 SSD or HDD drive into the adapter and then connect to a USB-A port on my PC or Mac and it will mount on the desktop (assuming the drive itself is correctly formatted). The adapter is compatible with USB 3, USB 2 and USB 1.1 sockets as well as with SATA 3, SATA 2 and SATA 1 interfaces. Depending on the drive connected, a maximum throughput of 5Gps is claimed.

The all plastic adapter weighs in at just 22g and is 20 cm in length. There are two LEDs on the unit, one for power and the to confirm a data connection. Build quality although lightweight seems fine, nothing looks like to fail, break or fall off anytime soon. The only thing to take care with is the connection between the drive and the adapter, although the connection itself is secure and will not come loose, be careful not to put too much pressure on the interface itself to avoid damage. For long term use, it would be better to use an external housing for the drive and these are available cheaply online.

I found it to work well and have been very happy with the performance, only I must say I data speeds were less than 550Mb/s claimed by the manufacturere of the test drive I used but that is more likely to be an issue with the drive rather than the adapter.

This is a simple and easy to use device, that works well and gets the job done without making a fuss about it.

For the £6.29 price, it is a great buy.
