Brent Kisio, the winningest head coach in Lethbridge Hurricanes history has announced that he will be stepping away from the club.

Kisio accepted a new position with the Henderson Silver Knights, who are the AHL affiliate team for the Las Vegas Golden Knights of the NHL.

He says the decision to leave the team came quickly for him.

Kisio coached with the Canes for eight years, and brought the group to a playoff berth in each year that he was at the helm.

Ultimately, the team was not able to bring home a WHL Championship during his tenure.

The last time the Canes won it all was the 1996-97 season.
