While the countries have not been named, reports suggest they could be Ghana, Nigeria, Namibia, Morocco and Niger, locations that were previously considered under Boris Johnson’s government. The Government is reportedly considering reviving plans to send people who arrive by unauthorised means to Ascension Island – a British overseas territory located in the Atlantic about 4,000 miles from the UK.
