Rishi Sunak to call a General Election sooner rather than later?

Rishi Sunak Tories are caught between a rock and a hard place when it comes to calling the next General Election.
Right so the General Election, I seem to have gone to and fro with my opinings on when this is coming, because we know it is, likely next year, but the spineless Sunak has until January of 2025 by law to call it. Now, he set out these 5 missions of his not long ago and these have been used not least by me as a way to sort of estimate when the election is likely to come. Inflation is slowly coming down, headline inflation anyway, though this is largely irrelevant when it’s food inflation and fuel inflation hitting us in the pockets and that isn’t coming down at all, the Bank of England being allowed to drive people with mortgages into destitution and the associated knock on effects of that being the Tories preferred way of dealing with it, ineffective and the answer is just to tax the rich, but don’t be silly Damo, when will the Tories ever do that! So he’s still likely to miss his end of year target on this I think, if he blows it, a sooner rather than later election seemed unlikely given Sunak will want to make up for it with his other four pledges, stopping the boats, which he will fail on for as long as no safe legal asylum route exists. Grow the economy, well good luck with that as the Bank of England insists we need to stay poor and you won’t question their independence despite being led as they are by a buffoon. Get the national debt down which is just a non starter when the cash in our pockets makes up part of the national debt along with debt the country owes to itself which therefore isn’t really a debt then, it’s always been a Tory misleading statement it is drivel and bring NHS waiting lists down as staff leave, suffer more real terms pay cuts and the service remains unsafe due to said staffing levels. All in all, Sunak is on a hiding to nowhere with his little to-do list. But now another factor has come into play, which may turn everything on it’s head. For as much as impending policy failure awaits Sunak over his 5 missions, the one thing he can’t afford given how scandal battered and politically weak as he is, is yet another problem and economists are delivering one to him on a plate. They’re predicting a recession by the end of next year. The economic equivalent of a punch to the face for the party in power presiding over it and as many of us already know, it always works out to be the case that the party leading on the economic argument is the one that ends up in power. This report comes from the National Institute for Economic and Social Research, the NIESR, one of those economic think tank jobbies who have said the risk of recession by the end of 2024 stands at 60% so as much as things are bad for the Tories electorally now, they could actually become worse for them if Sunak waits.
