Metallica is an American speed metal band, in the early 1980s. The main members are singer and guitarist James Hetfield, drummer Lars Ulrich, guitarist Kirk Hammett and bassist Cliff Burton. Jason Newsted replaced Burton after the latter died in a bus accident while on tour.

Formed by guitarist Hetfield and drummer Ulrich in 1981, Metallica took inspiration from punk and English metal for their very first album, "Kill 'Em All" in 1983. Titles like Battery and Damage Inc. revolutionized the new thrash metal genre for a whole generation of fans. When Metallica is on tour for "Master of Puppets", the bus rolls over in icy conditions on a road outside Stockholm. Burton is thrown out the window and dies instantly. The band returned to San Francisco and enlisted bassist Jason Newsted, who previously played for Flotsam and Jetsam, to replace Burton...
