The Lord called James Oscar Aycock home on August 6, 2023. He was born November 9, 1926, in Warrenton, NC, to the late Thomas Murphy and Alberta Mariah Aycock.

After spending six years in the military, he earned a BA in Biblical Education and Master of Divinity. In 1960, he began his pastoral ministry at Kennebec Baptist Church, Angier, NC, and then became the first pastor of Fellowship Baptist Church, Willow Spring, NC, where he ministered for 30 years until his retirement.

He was predeceased by his three brothers: TM Aycock, Jr., Will Aycock, and Lemuel Aycock.

He is survived by his wife, Joy Adams Aycock, of 69 years; four children, David (Nan), Tim (Joan) Aycock of Atlanta, Ga, Jill (Bobby) Mann of Greenville, SC, Kay (Don) Sandberg of Fuquay-Varina; six grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
