The Electoral Count Act of 1887 (ECA) was in place in 2021

In 2001, any congressman who wanted to raise an objection, the ECA of 1887 insists that he/she needs the signed support of one ONE Senator.
In 2021, Congressman Paul Gosar, along with 60+ of his colleagues objected to the Electoral Count of Arizona.

The objection was in writing & was signed by a senator. There were others.

The (ECA) of 1887 was then replaced with the Electoral Count Reform Act of 2022 in a now successful attempt to change the VP's role.
