Austin is a gorgeous dapple gray Percheron crossbred gelding. He is 9 years old, stands 17.1 hands tall and is thick and stout. Austin is an excellent riding and driving horse, who also does tricks! At your command Austin will lay down, he will sit, side pass to a mounting block, and follow you around at the command to come. Austin has had extensive groundwork and is very disciplined and has a willing attitude. He is one of those horses gentle enough for your entire family to ride, but trained and athletic enough to ride up to any level rider as well. Austin will lope circles taking both right and left leads correctly, and he has a one-step lope that is super smooth and slow. He one-hand neck reins, has a big stop and backs as well. Austin is very familiar with tarps, whips and guns and does great with them. He is level headed and has a kind eye. He is friendly, gentle and full of personality. Austin has taught colts to lead by them being ponied off of him. We’ve used him to catch and move cattle and check fences and other livestock. Austin is also an excellent trail horse. We’ve trail ridden him through deep water, mud, up and down steep hills, over rough and rocky terrain and he handles it all with ease. Austin will ride alone or with a group, in the front or in the back. He loads and hauls great, he stands for the farrier, stands patiently in the cross ties and is quiet in the stall. Austin gets along well with other horses and is super easy to catch. He will meet you at the gate and follow you around even without a halter. He is used to dogs, cats, goats and sheep running around the barn as well. In addition to riding, Austin also drives as well! He is strong enough to pull a big load and last all day. We’ve driven him all over- to town, and even through our pastures to check cattle. This gentle giant is a fun, easy, dependable ride that your entire family would enjoy.
