Real Life Sephiroth Sword in Japan
Ever wonder where Square Enix got the idea for Sephiroth's
ridiculously long katana the Masamune
well the idea came from a real sword in a japanese Treasure House of the Hanaoka Hachiman Shrine in the Yamaguchi prefecture of Japan
The sword is called haja no ontachi which means the evil crushing great katana or the evil crushing blade
pretty cool name right
the sword was created as an amulet and was not meant to be use what so ever. However as the name suggest it was created to repel evil.
I mean, who has the super natural strength to wield or who is tall enough to use it unless you are a blood thirsty Titan
The sword is 183 inches long - about 15 feet long and you should go check it out on your next visit to Japan.
