The wind continued to howl on day 6 of the 2023 Fuerteventura PWA Grand Slam as gusts in excess of 35 knots were once again recorded, whilst the water conditions improved as the afternoon progressed once the tide began to drop back as the extremely treacherous chop was replaced with little stunt ramps, which allowed the world’s best Freestylers to produce an explosive start to proceedings.

Day 9 of the 2023 Fuerteventura PWA Grand Slam saw the conclusion of the men’s and women’s Freestyle, which saw Sarah-Quita Offringa claim a record extending 14th Freestyle world title, whilst Yentel Caers completed a superb comeback to claim his first event title on the World Tour.

The wind claimed its share of prominence on the penultimate day of competition of the 41 Copa del Rey MAPFRE by arriving late and blowing irregularly, but everyone was able to add partial scores to their lockers. The top contenders for the title have taken positions at the top of the eight classes, and will compete for glory on Saturday in an exciting all-or-nothing grand finale. King Don Felipe returned to skipper the Aifos, and retains the provisional third position in the Majorica O R C 1 class.

Last Saturday, August 5, Ses Voltes hosted the awarding of the trophies for the 41st Copa del Rey MAPFRE. The event, which took place after the end of the last day of competition, was chaired by King Don Felipe, who was in charge of presenting the awards to the winners of the eight categories of this popular Mediterranean regatta.
