On December 29, 1992, the Stolpa family – James, his wife Jennifer, both 21, and their four-month-old son Clayton embarked on a journey through Nevada. Their trip would soon turn into a fight for survival. They spent eight days fighting for their survival. As they traveled, a sudden snowstorm struck, leaving their vehicle stranded on a remote road in Nevada. They tried to walk to find help with no success. James decided to go by himself and walked more than 30 miles to find help. Finally, he found the house of Peterson and his family got rescued. Clayton escaped with no injuries, but Jim and Jennifer lost toes to frostbite. The Stolpa family’s story has been made into a film in 1994 called “Snowbound: The Jim and Jennifer Stolpa Story”. The Stolpa story highlights the power of love, determination, and the will to survive.
