In the early days of the plague, the nobles banished all criminals, the poor, and the sickly to a lower level of the kingdom known as the "Sea of Trees". The upper rings of society, living above the slum, care nothing of their lives. They refer to them as the Hopeless, letting them succumb to sickness and all manner of ghastly creatures.
