Deer Seeking Water During Drought

California Drought Kills Wildlife... Extreme drought conditions in California are not just changing lifestyles, the lack of water is killing wildlife. Deer living on the edge during a drought is a clear indication of what happens during desperate times in the animal kingdom. The surrounding wildlife begins to venture lower down the mountains and soon shows up in the backyards of a fully developed community.

They are most likely seeking a water supply during a prolonged drought which has seriously dried up many of the local lakes.

This small herd of deer was seen in Silverado Canyon, near the popular biker bar called Cook's Corner, located in Orange County, California.

There are several types of deer in the state of California, including:

Columbian Black-Tailed Deer; California Mule Deer; Rocky Mountain Mule Deer; Southern Mule Deer; Inyo Mule Deer and Burro Mule Deer. Most deer can be identified based on where in the state they happen to be located.
