Chunks of the Universe Keep Disappearing (into the Unobservable Universe)

Light from other parts of the universe only comes from a portion called the observable universe. Most of the universe is out of reach of our eyes and our telescopes. This is the unobservable universe. The observable universe is just a small fraction of the total universe. Some regions of space are moving away from us faster than the speed of light, which means the observable universe is shrinking in size. Because the expansion of the Universe is accelerating, each year, more and more regions of space cross the point of no return and become unobservable to us.
