Katie Cruel is a traditional folk song. Karen Dalton and Lisa LeBlanc both sing and play this song so great. I play it on the banjo in a tuning like double C but I`m in low G. There`s a short intro I left in.

Katie Cruel - Traditional - lyrics
Guitar tuned - CGCGCD
Double C banjo tuning - CCGCD (relative) (I`m in low G)
performed by, Dan D. Dirges

When I first came to town they called me the Roving Jewel
Now they've changed their tune, they call me Katie Cruel

Through the woods ill go
and through the boggy mire
Straightway down the road
till I come to my heart's desire

Wish I was where I would be
Then Id be where I am not
Here I am where I must be
Where I would be, I cannot

When I first came to town they bought me drinks a plenty
Now they've changed their tune,
they hand me bottles empty

Through the woods ill go
and through the boggy mire
Straightway down the road
till I come to my heart's desire

If I was where I would be
then id be where I am not
here I am where I must be
where I would be I cannot.

When I first came to town they called me the Roving Jewel
Now they've changed their tune, call me Katie Cruel
