Las Vegas Pride Parade 2022
Las Vegas illuminated its iconic Strip with vibrant rainbow colors, featuring landmarks like the Eiffel Tower at Paris, the High Roller, and the Luxor, all in celebration of PRIDE on a Friday night. The festivities began with a lively night parade.
The parade was filled with exuberant cheers, confetti raining down from above, and spirited cheerleaders dancing high above the streets. The presence of the Las Vegas Aces World Championship Trophy added to the excitement.
Lori Placek, who came to witness the parade, expressed the significance of PRIDE: "To me, PRIDE means the freedom to be oneself, to love whoever you choose, and to share that love with friends and family."
This year's PRIDE parade set a record with 127 entries, drawing an estimated crowd of 10,000 people. The annual event underscores the importance of diversity and acceptance within Las Vegas.
Governor Steve Sisolak emphasized the welcoming nature of Nevada: "No matter your background, ethnicity, sexual preference, or gender, everyone is welcome here. Our doors are open to all."
Considering recent safety concerns, following a mass stabbing incident on the Strip the day before, safety was a top priority for everyone this year, including the governor. Sisolak conveyed, "Las Vegas is safe. We are taking all necessary measures to reassure tourists about their safety."
This love-filled and joyful event is eagerly anticipated by many families each year. One parade-goer, Traci Brown, shared her perspective: "This is a family event we've been attending for 7 or 8 years now. Our differences should be celebrated. We should embrace each other and celebrate love."
The festivities continued into Saturday, with the Las Vegas PRIDE Festival relocating to Craig Ranch Park, offering a wide range of activities and performances from noon until 11 p.m., promising a day and night filled with entertainment and celebration.
