Why Should We Avoid Flatteries from Us and to us? Because:
1. Flattery Causes General Failure - Job 17:5 – “eyes shall fail”
a. Eyes – input, by which we perceive, understand, assess
2. Flattery is an ingredient for Respecting Persons - Job 32:21-22s
3. Flattery Causes Death - Psalms 5:9
4. Flattery is a tool used by the Proud - Psalms 12:2-3
5. Flattery is a device of Conceited and Hateful People - Psalms 36:2
6. Flattery is and Instrument of Liars - Psalms 78:36, Proverbs 26:28
7. Flattery is Sensual - Proverbs 2:16, Proverbs 6:24 – used by whores
a. Proverbs 7:21
8. Flattery is a favorite for the Gossipers – ‘talebearer’
a. those that are unable to say better things
9. Flattery is used to obtain Favor but ultimately fails in it
a. Compared to a truthful person - Proverbs 28:23
b. It’s a trap for the lying flatterer - Proverbs 29:5
10. God will ultimately cause it to cease - Ezekiel 12:24
11. The Antichrist will use it against the world to deceive - Daniel 11:21, 32, 34
12. Real Servants of the Lord Avoid Flatteries - 1Thessalonians 2:5
