At least eight people died when two Russian missiles hit the eastern Ukrainian city of Pokrovsk, damaging sites frequently visited by journalists. Among the casualties was the deputy head of the State Emergency Service in Donetsk Oblast. The Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, said Russia used its Iskander missiles in the attack, which mirrored an earlier strike on Kramatorsk. Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasised the need for bolstering the nation's defence manufacturing, especially drones like the "Kub" and "Lancet", which have demonstrated their potency in combat. As Western defence companies withdrew from Russia, Putin stressed the importance of Russia filling that void, with plans for increased aircraft production announced by Rostec's director-general, Sergey Chemezov.
