Weltool T2 Review: The Perfect Long Range EDC Flashlight?
Finally, I got hold of the Weltool T2! This is a powerhouse of a flashlight with over 400m throw with a 26.5mm head. I'd call this more of a 'semi-tactical' flashlight as the UI has low/medium/high mode with memory. I love the overall feel, quality, and performance of this light. If you're thinking of getting this light, make sure you watch my video to help you to decide.

This light was sent to me as a sample by Weltool for the purposes of review. I have not held back on any issues with this light. All opinions are my own.

Weltool T2: Video Transcript
General thoughts after a week of usage/size comparison/practicality/interesting things:
• This is the first Weltool light that I've owned and I'm super impressed with the quality and feel of this light. Weltool has squeezed every drop of performance out of the SFT40. I would call this a semi-tactical flashlight as there is no shortcut to turbo. This light is a high candela thrower, which is my kind of EDC, especially as it comes with a low mode too.
• You also get an 18650 button-top battery, charger + cable, spare o-rings, manual + lifetime warranty. The T2 is also able to accept 2 x CR123 cells.
• Comparison with other similar-sized tactical lights.
Overall Construction, LED, lens, bezel, and reflector
• There's something very 'military' about this light. It has a rugged and practical design. Low gloss, matt black finish. Checkered knurling on the battery tube and tail cap provides ample grip. The threads are square-cut and smooth. Tailcap has a rubber switch that sticks out from the back. This light won't tail stand. Dual springs on the tail cap and spring in the head for shock resistance. Metal clip under the tail cap, not a deep carry clip.
• SFT40 sits in a white gasket - perfectly centered. SMO reflector. AR glass lens. Stainless steel crenulated bezel. I like that the glass/reflector sits much deeper from the bezel than my other lights. It means less chance of breaking the lens if you had to use the bezel forcefully.
• Weltool use a patented technology called 'Through-Hole Cooling' - which releases heat generated by the LED through convection. There are 6 holes that run through the light, directly under the LED's heatsink. I'm not sure how effective this technology is - I'm guessing Weltool would have done some tests with a mode without the holes as well.
UI - modes
• Only three modes - LMH. No strobe. You can half-press from off to access momentary and continue half-pressing to cycle through all three modes. Full click to lock in. 3-4 second memory mode active - cannot be disabled.
• Low battery reminder (flashing when switched on) with low voltage protection
Performance - total output, beam profile, longevity, practicality
• Ceiling bounce test, CCT, CRI.
• Beautiful beam profile with strong and bright hotspot, decent spill with no artefacts. It's amazing how intense the hotspot is for such a small light.
Considerations
• Gets hot in high mode.
• For those into self-defense and tactical lights, there is no shortcut to high - unless you keep it in memory. But you need to wait 3-4 seconds for it to store. This is more suited as a general tactical-style EDC. The good news is that Weltool also has a variant, the T2 TAC that allows permanent access to high from the tail switch. That model also has a hidden low mode. It would be nice if Weltool incorporated a tactical and daily mode in the UI. Yes, it would complicate things a little, but in my experience, it makes the light more versatile and you can just leave it in one mode forever if that suits you better.
• Slight battery rattle if you tap the light. Not noticeable in everyday use.
Verdict
• I can see why some people swear by Weltool, this light has all the hallmarks of an excellent quality flashlight - I like the simplicity of the UI, and it's good that it still allows access to some lower modes. One thing I notice about Weltool is that they have a specific purpose for each of their lights and double down on that rather than try to make lights that can 'do it all' but end up being a jack of all trades.
