"Unlocking Martian Water"

Continuing the first episode of "Terraforming Mars" we'll highlight other methods astronauts can use to extract Martian water.

Perchlorate salts, which are dangerous, are present in Martian soil, but they also have latent potential. These salts heat the soil, releasing priceless water vapour that may be cleaned and condensed. The hidden water beneath the Martian surface is like turning danger into drinkability.

Scientists can also use in-situ resource utilisation (ISRU). The first Inhabitants have to drill, heat, or chemically convert subsurface ice or regolith to release water.
