Few saw it coming, but lo and behold, Barbie is now a billion dollar movie, and that will influence Hollywood going forward, as all the other studios will want some of that Barbie cash for themselves – which means they will have to interpret what, IP aside, was the secret behind Barbie’s success ... so what will they interpret the secret sauce to have been?

In this editorial, @AndreEinherjar will begin with how Hollywood likes clear, unambiguous messages, and how Barbie doesn’t provide that. Then we’ll see that despite the movies defenders claiming it is actually pro-men and women, there is now evidence suggesting Barbie really is what I said it was, namely, a break-up movie, so, what lessons will Hollywood take away from Barbie in their future greenlighting decisions?
