Metabolic Link podcast w/ DOM D’AGNOSTINO

Ohio State Univ lab: study in progress
-can keto have positive effect on
depression?
-students with major depression
-so far: 6 subjects
-early results using self-reporting
-on keto, all subjects had early, major
reductions in depression
-sustained over 12 weeks
-with few subjects, but STRONG SIGNAL
-considered pilot study to prep for
randomized, control trial later

Several principles in running the study...
-diet must be sustainable
-testing feasibility [can stay on diet?]
& efficacy [does it work?]
-used hybrid approach:
-want it to be enjoyable to eat so
catering to their preferences if we can
-must be in ketosis
-customize carb & protein intake
-provide education
-adjust if not in ketosis
