Today we are in Lesson-07 in the series “Living Hope” from the book of I Peter.

This study is part I of our series: “Strangers and Pilgrims” which covers I and II Peter.

The lesson is titled “Living for God’s Will – Part I” and our focus passage is I Peter 4:1-6.

In our previous episode, we concluded our study of I Peter 3.

In this chapter, Peter calls believers to godly living at home, at church, in the world, and even in the face of unfair treatment.

While we are boldly and clearing proclaiming the truth of the gospel, our lives as Christians should reflect the great reality of our redemption in Christ.

In essence, our lives should adorn the doctrine of the Gospel (cf. Titus 2:9-10) in every sphere: at home, in church, at work, in the neighborhood, in the city.

In today’s lesson we begin our study of I Peter 4.

In this chapter Peter will encourage his audience to make a concerted effort to live for the will of God.

They are now different because they have been redeemed by Jesus Christ.

They are no longer under the kingdom of darkness but citizens of God’s kingdom.

They are no longer pagans, unbelievers separated from God. They are part of God’s household.

So, it is necessary to have a different attitude in life, a different purpose in mind, and a different way to spend our time while we still have that time.

Let’s get started.
