Texas Charity Penalized with Heavy Fines for Feeding the Homeless

Charity Food Not Bombs has been fined by the police for feeding homeless people in public in Texas.

Food Not Bombs volunteers distributed food to homeless people in downtown Austin last month, but when the police arrived they fined the charity and gave them a notice to move within 72 hours.

Food Not Bombs says it plans to appeal the decision.

This is the latest in a series of crackdowns on charities providing food to the homeless in the US.Charity Food Not Bombs is the only charity to be fined in Texas this year.
