On Thursday, March 2, 2023, at approximately 05:01, I, Officer Q. Sanders, was dispatched to 324 Desoto for a vehicle break-in that was in progress. Upon arrival Sgt. Mills, Officer C. Sanders, and I contacted the caller's (Qunesha Britton) mother, Taneshia Britton-Survillion, who proceeded to show us the passenger side window broken out and stated a black guy who appeared to be young had just left the scene on a bike in dark color clothing. We advised her that we would patrol the area to see if we could find someone matching that description. At approximately 05:10, while patrolling Plaza I, Officer Q. Sanders, saw a subject who fit the description of the person we were looking for on a bike. I immediately got on the radio to notity other officers and dispatch. The subject, later identified as Joe Montague, was crossing Plaza from South 6th to North 6th. I got on the speaker of my patrol unit and told the subiect to stop, and he proceeded to speed up into the alleyway right behind Roller Citizens Funeral Home. The subject hopped off the bike, jumped the fence into Roller Citizens parking, and ran toward Plaza. I, Officer Q. Sanders, then proceeded around the block on Plaza, in front of Roller Citizens, and saw the subject in the parking lot of Roller Citizens. I exited my patrol unit, and the subject put his hands up, and I directed him to get on the ground slowly. I then got on the radio to let other officers and dispatch know my location and that I had the suspect detained. Officer C. Sanders and Sat. Mills arrived on the scene shortly after, and we began to search the suspect. He had multiple debit and credit cards with different names on them. I asked him about the cards, and he said someone gave them to him. As we continued our search, we found an unknown amount of a green leafy substance that appeared to be marijuana and a marijuana grinder. We also discovered a wallet with the caller's boyfriend's I.D. and several other items that belonged to the caller's boyfriend in the wallet. St. Mills went through the cards and saw the name of a family member, Tanja Nathan, on several of them and called her to see if her vehicle had been broken into. Ms. Nathan went outside to look at her car while on the phone with Set. Mills and stated her window had been busted out. The suspect said, "I did break into the gold truck in Joyner Dr." The suspect didn't possess any identification, so Sgt. Mills had dispatch run him by name and date of birth. Joe Montage of September 21, 1998, returned with a valid warrant.

After searching Mr. Montague I, Officer Q. Sanders, transported Mr. Montague to the police department for booking at 05:23. Officer Sanders returned to 324 Desoto to take a report, and Set. Mills went to 422 Joyner Dr. to take a report also. Upon arrival at the police department, 1, Officer Q. Sanders, read Mr. Montage his Miranda Rights. I asked him about the other vehicle break-in on Desoto, and he stated, "I was walking with a white male that people call Gee Ball, and he busted the window out the car and handed me the wallet yall found on me ."Joe Montague was charged with two counts of Breaking or Entering (5-39-202A(1)(c), Theft of Property (5-36-103(b)(3)(c), Possession of Control Substance (5-64-401), Possessing Instrument of Crime (5-73
-102) and Fleeing (5-54-125) Shortly after I, Officer Q. Sanders, finished Mr. Montague's arrest sheet, I walked him over to the Phillips County Detention Center for processing.
This incident was forwarded to Detective Tucker for further investigations.
