A recent source indicates that Tesla is moving on with plans to release the much anticipated Tesla Model 2, and that the entry-level battery-electric compact automobile is being designed to have a starting price of just $24,000 (A35,000) when it is introduced in 2025.

The Tesla Model 2 production is reportedly ready to relocate to a brand-new factory in India that will be built to keep prices as low as possible, according to news agency Reuters. Official date has not yet been confirmed.

The 2025 Tesla Model 2 was once anticipated to be produced in Tesla's upcoming Mexican facility, but the EV manufacturer's strategic shift to India will allow it to dodge local taxes.

Indian output is significant since it should increase market accessibility in Australia.

If Tesla's new entry model, which may have a different name by the time it goes into production, will be produced at other facilities than its Gigafactory in Berlin, Germany, is unknown at this time.

The Model 2 will, however, likely be produced at a number of factories due to the projected huge volume.

The Model 2 will cost about 25% less than the current Model 3 sedan, wherever location it is made in, according to the most recent reports.
The entry-level Model 2 might cost roughly $43,000 in the Australian market, despite Tesla's frequently changing pricing policy in our market, where the most cheap Model 3 costs $57,400 plus on-road fees.

Since the possibility of a Tesla Model 2 entry-level EV was not discussed on previous public calls between the automaker and important investors, it was speculated earlier this year that the Model 2 may have been put on hold.

When the new facility will break ground in India has not been specified by Reuters, however high-level conversations between Tesla and Piyush Goyal, India's commerce minister, indicate that a date may soon be announced.
The decision to relocate to India is believed to have been made after Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Indian President Narendra Modi met in the US in June to talk about the country's high import tariffs.

Along with the anticipated plant in Mexico, Tesla will also have manufacturing facilities in Fremont, Austin, Shanghai, and Berlin if the Indian factory is built.

The largest factory at the moment is the Shanghai plant, which creates more than 40% of all Teslas produced annually, including the Model 3 and Model Y offered in Australia.

Tesla has already stated that the architecture of its upcoming vehicles will enable it to reduce production costs by as much as 50% and that it will serve as the foundation for all of its upcoming models, including a fully autonomous robotaxi.

Sporty and Usable Design With Aerodynamics As The Primary Focus
According to speculative renderings that are currently available online, the new Tesla may have an aerodynamic five-door bodystyle with a coupe-style roofline, big wheels, and small overhangs.
