🇺🇸 First Flight 🪿🪿

My fellow Americans,
Tonight I speak to you of hope and new beginnings - of the future leaders whose wings have just unfolded and now rise to challenge the sky for the very first time. Every year, our nation's waterways serve as cradle and runway for a new generation of geese who take that first leap of faith into the vast unknown. These gangly young things wobble and waver as they find their balance. They tumble and splash as they learn how to coordinate those wings for freedom and ascend from the constraints of earth.

It is the brilliant majesty of the simplest things - watching Dale and Velzy achieve liftoff- that renews our own spirit and reminds us of what we can accomplish when we ignite that pioneering spirit that built this nation from the start. Tonight, I call on all Americans to look to these graceful goslings as they grow into our next mighty flock. May we learn from their pluck and perseverance, their ability to rise above hard times and soar ever higher with each passing day. But most of all, may we reunite as one nation under God, indivisible, as we embrace these newcomers on their first flight and help give them wings. That, my fellow citizens, is the dream that makes America take flight. Thank you, and goodnight.
