July 2023 was an eventful month for the IT@UCF community, marked by significant IT advancements. The Provost commissioned the Summer AI Task Force, exploring the potential of generative artificial intelligence tools in teaching, learning, and research. Simultaneously, IT professionals strived to better comprehend the community's needs through strategy interviews, underscoring the necessity for continual improvements in customer service.

Progress in email consolidation, with the Knights Email Migration reaching a milestone of 75% completion by the end of July. Notably, the College of Engineering demonstrated commendable effort and dedication in supporting a series of summer outreach camps, influencing the lives of over 150 aspiring scientists and engineers.

Moreover, UCF witnessed unprecedented success in securing external research awards, demonstrating a record total for the fiscal year 2023. Another significant event was the College of Medicine's annual White Coat Ceremony and back-to-school orientation, expertly handled by the HealthIT team, which saw the welcoming of the Class of 2027.

The IT landscape at UCF evolved further with the introduction of the Bitly URL shortener and the impending launch of the Workday Assistant Chatbot, set to transform the workday experience for UCF employees. The month began with extensive discussions on critical IT matters such as Expense Drivers, Mitigations, and Workday Governance.

To summarize, here are the highlights:

1. The Summer AI Committee commissioned by the Provost explores the potential applications of generative AI tools in teaching, learning, and research, focusing on AI fluency and ethical considerations.

2. Strategy interviews are ongoing to understand better the UCF community's IT needs.

3. The Knights Email Migration process is 75% complete as of July 31st. (80,024 of 107,102 Email Accounts 98.7 TB of Data Migrated) This just in -- the number rose to 89.423 migrated and 17,287 accounts remaining.

4. The College of Engineering's IT team supported five summer outreach camps organized by the iSTEM Office.

5. UCF set a new record in external research awards for the fiscal year 2023.

6. The College of Medicine's HealthIT team welcomed the Class of 2027 during the annual White Coat Ceremony and orientation week.

7. UCF launched the Bitly URL shortener service.

8. The Workday Assistant Chatbot is set to go live at the end of August.

9. Discussions on IT Expense Drivers and Mitigations, Workday Governance, and DevOps took place, along with updates on Status.UCF.EDU and Uptime.UCF.EDU.

10. Health IT introduced a new 7-minute video for student orientation to streamline the orientation process.
