NBPA condemns Orlando Magic for donating $50,000 to Gov. DeSantis’ presidential campaign

The National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) issued a statement Thursday denouncing the Orlando Magic’s $50,000 donation to Never Back Down, a super PAC backing presidential candidate Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL). “A political contribution from the Orlando Magic is alarming given recent comments and policies of its beneficiary,” the NBPA said. A spokesperson for the Orlando Magic said the donation supported DeSantis as governor of Florida, not as a presidential candidate.
