Secrets of the Grateful Dead and Why They are the Most ImportantThing that Ever Happened pt 1

The Grateful Dead has become a monolithic cultural institution in the United States. Their popularity has only grown since the death of their iconic leader, Jerry Garcia. Hollywood stars sport 4k dollar Grateful Dead Nike's, rappers are often spotted rocking GD t-shirts. Gen Z may not know who John Lennon was, but they all know who Jerry Garcia was. It is believed that Bob Weir, the Grateful Dead's rhythm guitarist and second vocalist, has been seen onstage by more people than anyone in history. The current incarnation of the Dead, Dead and Co, which consists of three of four surviving members, plus John Mayer, Jeff Chimenti (the greatest living keyboardist; the keysman the Dead always needed, but never had) and Oteil Burbridge, continues to fill stadiums over half a century after the inception of the Grateful Dead, and 30 years past the death of the only real star in the band. It is truly astonishing,
But why is this happening? Why won't the Dead die? The answer is more deep and amazing than most people can imagine. Truly understanding the Grateful Dead requires a radical revision of the modern materialist worldview, and suggests that our understanding of human consciousness is truly in its infancy.

There has been a tremendous amount of material flooding the market pertaining to the history of the Dead, so in this livestream we will focus on the strange, the mysterious, and the magical. Reports of the weather responding to the music, (the thumbnail is from the first night of The GD 50th Anniversary show. The rainbow is considered a symbol of Garcia's spirit by many Deadheads. It was also Gay Pride day; thus a double rainbow was called for.) experiences of collective telepathy, remarkable coincidences were a rule within the bands orbit,, and transcendental experience were not only experienced, but expected.
We will talk all of the above, and hopefully still have time to address the completely baseless conspiracy theory that it was all a CIA operation, with Garcia on bona fide agent status. After all, he did sing "I'm Uncle Sam. That's who I am. Hiding out...in a rock n' roll band. Shake the hand, that shook the hand of PT Barnum, and the Taliban," did he not? Illiminaughty, without o doubt.
I may even play a cover or two.
