Ludington, the daughter of a colonel in the Colonial militia, Henry Ludington, is said to have made an all-night horseback ride 40 miles (64 km) to rally militia forces in neighboring towns after the burning of Danbury, Connecticut, by British forces. Historically known as the "female Paul Revere," her Ride is disputed Sybil's ride by some, is a example of courage and faith, standing courageously and boldly with her father. Nevertheless, it is example of fortitude and courage.
