Episode 34 – July 28th, 2023

On Monday, July 31, Vinny Eastwood will go into a New Zealand court in order to appeal his 3-month conviction. He was found guilty and sentenced for his 2021 arrest, in which he was peacefully protesting the unprecedented and wrongful lockdown announced by the New Zealand government.

During the pandemic, many governments took authoritarian actions and violated human rights like freedom of movement and free speech. In fact, all governments in the world did this. However, some went as far as to arrest and detain people. New Zealand is not alone in having done this.

Where they do stand out is in the fact that all those sentences and fines have long been rescinded and dropped. This is the summer of 2023, the pandemic is long over. Yet, New Zealand’s government and court system insists on a vengeful punishment of Vinny Eastwood and Billy TK for speaking the truth in a time of fear.

The NZ government’s behavior in this matter is a clear declaration of their intention and identity. They are an authoritarian regime. This was declared in 2019, when following the Christchurch Mosque shooting, New Zealand made ALL SEMI-AUTOMATIC RIFLES illegal. They proceeded to CONFISCATE THE GUNS, in a several-month buyback scheme. The gun confiscation immediately followed the shooting, while the people were in a state of fear and shock. Governments taking guns during times of distress is a systematic, historically repetitive tactic employed by dictators and regimes, unfailingly followed by oppression, violence, and genocide. This is New Zealand.
