PREVIEW: After winning ODI series 2-1, India will play West Indies in the first T20I on Thursday (August 03). Hardik Pandya will lead the T20 team, which sees a lot of young players in the lineup, such as Yashasvi Jaiswal, Tilak Varma and Mukesh Kumar. With Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli skipping the T20 series, Pandya-led young team has a chance to put on a big performance against the Windies.

India had a lot of positives to take from the ODI series, and the biggest of them was Ishan Kishan’s performance. The wicketkeeper batter has scored four consecutive fifties and has taken the wicketkeeper’s position. Another positive for India is Mukesh Kumar’s form. The bowler took four wickets in ODI series and was accurate with his line and lengths.

In the ODI series, Rahul Dravid experimented by trying out different combinations, it remains to be seen if he continues to do so in the T20 series. Hardik Pandya will likely get the finisher role, while Surya is set to bat at number four. Gill and Kishan will open in the shortest format after their success in the ODI series. In the bowling, it remains to be seen if Chahal will be given the go-ahead.

Meanwhile, for Windies, Nicholas Pooran returns and that is a big boost. The left hander is in good form in T20 cricket and will be keen to continue that form. Windies are a better team in T20Is.

The first T20I will be played in Trinidad. The pitch here is good for batting as was seen in the first ODI. The fast bowlers will get some movement in initial few overs. Teams will prefer batting second due to the pitch being on the fast side.
