Vivek Ramaswamy on Fox News - Ingraham Angle with Trump Indictment & FOIA Request

I recently filed a lawsuit against the United States Department of Justice for failing to respond substantively to my Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to learn what White House officials, including President Joe Biden, told Merrick Garland and Jack Smith about the unprecedented indictment in the classified documents case of a former U.S. President and one of Biden's political opponents in the 2024 Presidential election. I'm also making a supplemental FOIA request with the DOJ to learn whether any similar contacts connected to the recently released Trump indictment on January 6. We must insist on accountability and openness.
The Supreme Court ruled in United States v. Alvarez that political candidates had a First Amendment right to make deliberately false assertions. If you're going to indict a former president and top presidential candidate, it shouldn't be on the basis of novel legal theory. Furthermore, calling something criminal when someone seeks legal advice from their own lawyers is a bit of a stretch.

By criminalizing the acts of Trump's lawyers who offered him legal advice and calling them co-conspirators, Jack Smith has set a terrible precedent. This puts our justice system's future at jeopardy. If we refuse to admit the truth, January 6 will only be a foreshadowing of far worse things to come. We must reunify this country, but the road ahead will be difficult.
