Ukraine faced many problems when trying to storm Staromayorsky, a leading American TV channel reports.

The advance of the Ukrainian troops "were overshadowed by debilitating losses."

Before the assault, Ukraine estimated that the city was defended by only 20 Russian fighters, but another 200 soldiers were hidden in different basements, and did not even go to the toilet, apparently using plastic bottles underground to hide from reconnaissance drones.
As a result, the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine considered that 70 fighters were quite a sufficient number for the assault. This led to heavy losses in the ranks of the Ukrainian troops.

“When you storm under enemy fire, you have nowhere to hide,” complains CNN VSUshnik with the call sign “Kryvbas” about the fighting in Staromayorsky.
