When Corey Taylor sang that intro and that song started to rip, I thought, “Holy fuck! I’m going to Media Markt after duty today and I’m getting this fuckin CD!”

Instead, I said to myself, "Fuck the chowhall!"
I went to AAFES and BAM! There it was, Slipknot’s CD. I bought 5 copies and only opened one. I still have 4 unopened CDs in my collection. I bought everything I could connected to Slipknot. Read every article, learned every name, dug into their history. I had become a Maggot. And to this day, I am still one!

Just an FYI folks, Sergeant Chris was a good friend of mine. We lost touch after I left Germany for the last time. Thank you, my brother, for the memories. I hope we can meet again one day and talk about the good ole days!

Nu Metal, seven string downtuned guitars, minimal solos in songs, off the chain vocals, straight in your face “Scene Kids” that came out of the woodwork when these bands showed up in your town. With names like, Korn Kids, Western Cholos, Maggots, Shroomheads, etc…each band had a gang of kids that were die hard for their music. From the first time I heard Korn’s ‘Blind’, Slipknot’s ‘Wait and Bleed’, Sweden’s own Clawfinger’s ‘N***er’ (it’s a protest song about racism, don’t get your hiney in a bind, liberals!), Body Count’s ‘There Goes the Neighborhood, and so many more, this GenX kid was hooked, and I’m still hooked to this day. That’s why I love being GenX, when you’re listening to Nu Metal, the Summer…never ends!
