1 Thessalonians 08 The Day of the Lord 5:1-11

SBC Family and Friends,

The day of the LORD is a huge topic in the Bible. Most of the usages are in the OT, but Paul picks it up in 1 Thess 5 as a SEPARATE topic from the rapture. The rapture precedes the day of the LORD by an unknown amount of time. They are not the same event and they do not happen on the same day. The rapture may occur a few days or months or even a year or more before the day of the LORD begins. I hope to show that the day of the LORD begins when the 70th week of Daniel begins. It, however, is much bigger than the 70th week. It has a darkness/judgment phase and a light/blessing phase that includes the millennial kingdom. It is, therefore, at least 1,007 years long. Paul has some very practical teaching for us tied to us not being destined to enter this time of God's wrath, but to be delivered away from it by the rapture.

Lots of neat things in this passage. One of my favorite.

See the handout and see you tonight!

Grace to you,
Jeremy
