Quickie: Bad Elk v. United States

John Bad Elk shot and killed a police officer wrongly trying to arrest him. Common law tradition for centuries says people have the right to resist police acting unlawfully. Sadly, since Bad Elk, this right has been eroded thanks largely to racist forces acting against the Civil Rights Movement, as well as the modern police empowerment movement.
