Judge assigned to Trump’s Jan. 6 case is a tough punisher of Capitol rioters

The federal judge presiding over the election fraud case involving former President Donald Trump has gained a reputation for being one of the most stringent enforcers against rioters involved in the attack on the U.S. Capitol, which was fueled by Trump’s baseless claims of a stolen election.

Notably, she has ruled against Trump in the past as well, the Washington Times has reported.

Trump is scheduled to appear before U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan on Thursday. Judge Chutkan, a former assistant public defender, was nominated to the bench by President Barack Obama.
