Are Virtual Console Games Dying to Remasters?

Remakes and Remasters have been the trend in gaming in general, and Nintendo is no exception, however, with the rise of remasters/remakes, virtual console games dont make sense in today's market. The Gamer points out Super Mario 3D All Stars as an example as 3 popular Mario games were included as one package, but then was removed from the store.
