Welcome back to Sincerely, Kaylani!

This month of August we have a full schedule of videos to film and things to make. In todays video, I talk about the big event I am attending in late August at the Lynde House Museum in Whitby, Ontario, some history about the house, the event itself, and going over my outfit plan; a historically inspired Garibaldi blouse and skirt ensemble with a Sincerely, Kaylani zero/low waste twist.

Fashion terms used in video . . .
Chemise: a linen/cotton dress worn directly against the skin under the corset
Corset: a garment which helped to create the fashion shape of the time period
Corset cover: a light linen/cotton shirt worn over the corset as to hide harsh lines and smooth out the shape or add to the fashionable figure
Petticoat: a cotton, wool, or silk skirt that is worn under the outer skirt to create volume/fashionable shape (some petticoats were made to be seen with pieces such as the Sac Gown of the 1700's)
Garibaldi Blouse: named after Italian war hero Giuseppe Garibaldi, the loose fitting red blouse was popularized in the 1860's for young women's fashion
Snood: a crochet hair net to hold hair in a low rounded shape at the nape of the neck while having curls still visible on the top of the head
