Ep. 17 - Living in a Barbie World: Woke or Wonderful?

In this week’s episode of Unleashed, Heidi delves into the world of womanhood through the lens of two iconic figures - Barbie and Taylor Swift. While most would jump to the conclusion these two push a very progressive agenda, Heidi takes a different stance and discusses the real struggles women face today and how we can use them to bridge the political or ideological gaps we have created since the original Women’s Rights Movement. 

Heidi takes us on a nostalgic trip down memory lane, recounting her childhood days and the impact her favorite toy, Barbie, had on shaping her dreams and ambitions. She shares her honest thoughts on the new live-action Barbie film, sharing some possibly controversial opinions about themes of feminism and gender roles throughout the movie. She then recounts her experience taking her three daughters to Taylor Swift the same week, recognizing the powerful influence figures like Swift can not just have on generations of young women, but on our economy and society.
