Large parts of China, including Beijing and the neighboring city of Zhuozhou, have been brought to a complete standstill by Typhoon Doksuri, which brought record rainfall, flash flooding and landslides. Footage from a village on the outskirts of Beijing shows a small part of the chaos, with roads having been ripped apart, and now resembling rivers. Trees and power lines are down, vehicles have been abandoned, and authorities have issued a warning that suburbs of Beijing are ‘at high risk of collapse, landslides, and mudslides.’

In Zhuozhou, the entire city appears to have been submerged, and only the tops of buildings and trees visible. Over 80,000 residents have been evacuated from the city, with many thousands more affected. According to state media, at least 9 people in the province have died due to the disaster.
