Well, at least this game is short! So I guess I can tolerate it's fake difficulty for a few parts... Fake difficulty was commonly used in games of this era to artificially lengthen a game by cheaply killing you repeatedly until you memorize your way through. So it's less about actual reaction-based skill and more about knowing to move before you would otherwise recognize you need to move.
